Prepare for interview

Ask yourself these obvious questions: (because they may be used in the interview so be prepared)

Motivational questions as you prepare for interview:

  1. What are you looking for in your next role?
  2. Why are you leaving your current role?
  3. Be prepared for a question about salary expectations.

Fit to their culture:

  1.  Which part of your work experience have you enjoyed the most, why?
  2. Which things do you dislike doing, why?
  3. How would you rate your performance? On what basis?
  4. If I were to ask your current manager their view of your performance, how would they rate you?
  5. How difficult is it for you to make new friends at work? Do you currently have colleagues at work that you feel closer to?

Fit for the role:

  1. Here you need to refer to the advertisement that you have responded to. Consider the primary points in how they describe the person they seek and the role requirements.
  2. Break these into separate points and search your background for specific examples for where you can demonstrate your skill and style against each of them. Be specific in your preparation, practice your answer. Break each point into three parts: the situation, your responsibilities and the outcome. Ideally with a $value. This response should be brief and to the point and don’t forget to include the outcome achieved.

Questions that you might consider to  ask the interview panel as you prepare for interview:

  1. Firstly, be prepared to ask questions of the interview panel.
  2. What major challenges does this area of the business face over the next 12 months.
  3. What is the priority of deliverables over the next 6 months
  4. How are you going to measure the effectiveness of this role in the first 6 months.
  5. What are the next steps in the assessment process.
